”Tehui – A Special Kind of Chinese Language Taboo” in Joakim Enwall (ed.), Outstretched Leaves on his Bamboo Staff: Studies in Honour of Göran Malmqvist on his 70th Birthday. 1994.
This article was referred to as a ”gem” in the review by T. H. Barrett in China Quarterly, Volume 146, June 1996, pp 624–625.
It should be pointed out that my  statement on p. 178, based on Chen Yuan’s Shihui juli, that the Jing-shi biming huikao is now lost except  for the preface and introductory remarks is incorrect. A facsimile of the complete work was published by the Ming Wen Book Co., Ltd  in 1986.

”Zhongguo wenhua de koutou wenhua secai – Du ”Koutou wenhua yu wenzi wenhua” suibi”. 中国文化 的口头文化色彩 – 读《口头文化与 文字文化》”随笔. ”Orality Features in  Chinese Culture – Some Thoughts on Reading Orality och Literacy” published in Dangdai haiwai hanxue yanjiu当代海外汉学研究 (Contemporary Research in Sinology Abroad). 1997.
Three changes to the article were made by the Chinese editors:
1. My statement that one of the four basic principles 四项基本原则, i.e. The people’s democratic dictatorship is redundant since it is implicit in another, i.e. Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, was left out.
2. The sentence saying that Swedish politicians found out that not even high level leaders could tell which the four basic principles were was changed to not so few Chinese cannot tell which all the four principles are.
3. ”Taiwan” was changed to ”Taiwan province”.
